R. Kelly will spend the next three decades in prison.
The R&B star was sentenced to 30 years behind bars in his federal sex trafficking case in New York. U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly imposed the sentencing on Wednesday after hearing statements from victims.
Kelly was found guilty in September 2021 of racketeering, including acts of bribery and sexual exploitation of a child, and of separate charges of sex trafficking.
The 55-year-old singer has been in prison since 2019 and the sentencing will keep him behind bars into his 80s.
Prosecutors were seeking a minimum 25-year term, while the defense argued that Kelly should spend less than 14 years behind bars.
